THE GOVERNMENT PASSED THE RESOLUTION DEFINING CERTAIN MEASURES ON INCREASING THE CONTROL OVER THE MINERAL LICENSES AND PREVENTING FROM ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

On January 15, 2020 the Government issued Resolution No. 17 defining a number of measures to be taken by relevant state authorities regarding mineral licenses, Including:

  • the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry Mr. Sumiyabazar D. to provide a full provision of the set of personal mineral resource licenses, establish a specialized electronic database, relevant government agencies to appropriately use the database, provide access to information and monitoring the implementation of the mineral resource and oil fields within the first quarter of 2020.
  • The Minister of Finance, Mr. Khurelbaatar Ch. and the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry Mr. Sumiyabazar D. to submit the revised edition of the “Regulation on calculating the compensation for the costs incurred for exploration work from the state budget and payment” to the Cabinet for discussion within the first quarter of 2020;

the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry Mr. Sumiyabazar D. and Minister of Justice and Home Affairs Mr. Nyamdorj Ts. to review whether terminating the licenses for the cases where the license holder fails to pay the royalty, no decision by the state administrative authority and the meeting minutes of the Mineral Professional Council re-exploration work results and licenses issued at Mongolian borders and to develop the amendment into the Minerals Law in accordance with relevant regulations and to submit that to the Cabinet for discussion within the first quarter of 2020.
