The safety regulations of open-pit mining were updated by the joint Decree A/231 and A/368 by the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry and the Minister of Labor and Social Protection on November 11, 2019. The compliance of the above-mentioned regulations are binding and requires the mandatory compliance of all mining and quarrying employees /main or contractual employees/, design, planning, and research organizations operating on open-cast mineral deposits within the territory of Mongolia.  

The general requirements of open-pit operations, the requirements for conducting mine work, the mechanizations of mining operations, the requirements for mine transportations and electrical equipment, the technical specifications for open-pit drainage, and the safety and hygiene requirements are stated in detail.
